CHENNAI: What do eye surgeons do during free time? Well, Dr. Gayathri Sreekanth decided to write the life story of one of her favourite actors, Rajinikanth.
Titled ‘The name is Rajinikanth’, this biographical sketch of the actor is in English and is being published by Om Books International. “Ours is a family of doctors. At one point, I really felt the need to do something totally different and decided to write a book, something I had been dreaming of doing,†she says. And she took the quirky interest rather seriously.
Interesting details After meeting the actor’s wife, she went to Bangalore to meet the ‘super star’s childhood friends. “I met a whole lot of his friends … each of them had such interesting details about the actor.â€
Later, she also met actors and others in the film industry to obtain more details about the actor.
After one year’s running about and interviews, she put together his story. “It is indeed very inspiring,†she says.
So didn’t all this disturb her practice? “Oh, yes, it did. My husband took care of all my patients during that one year,†she laughs.
Launch in March Director K. Balachander has penned the forward for the book, while actor Kamal Haasan has given a message.
The book will be launched this March.
