Compliment for Sivaji Box office and Bangalore Updates!

Dear SundarJi,

A nice write-up - not only about The Boss' stupendous run & collection in INOX, Chennai, but also about INOX Multiplex itself.  Before I forget, lemme ask you - when did you join INOX Multiplex as their PRO?  (Just kidding).  If INOX sees your write-up, they will display it in their multiplex itself.

I had been to City Centre during last New Year's eve when I was in Chennai but at that time INOX was just about getting ready & hence couldn't get to enjoy the ambience.

However, since we are on the topic of INOX, I would like to share with you all my experience of seeing The Boss in INOX, Bangalore.  Our group memebr in Bangalore, Shriram, has taken pains to do a group booking for all local Rajinifans members & their families & friends for an entire show on Day 2 (June 16th) morning show.  INOX refused to give bulk booking on Day 1 because of the hu.....ge crowds gathered for advance booking.  Even for Day 2, this is an achievement because INOX normally does not encourage individuals to do group booking but only corporates are eligible for that.  But, using his connections (Shriram works for BIAL, the new Intl Airport coming up in Bangalore), Shriram managed the impossible and got the entire 220 tickets by paying cash upfront from his kitty.  The official rate itself was Rs. 300 per ticket.  Shriram did an excellant job of organising & was in regular touch with all friends thru phone & SMS & did a neat job of distributing the tickets for each group together so that all of us can enjoy watching The BOSS' Day Out with our near & dear ones.  My family & freinds alone were 22 people and we occupied an entire row.  We had an enjoyable time & I was sharing my first day experience in each scene with my daughter who was sitting next to me.  That was the first time I was watching a movie in an INOX screen & it was fantastic.

However, since I have already seen & experienced PVR Cinemas, which is a bigger multiplex with higher capacity screens (PVR has got 11 screens in Forum Mall, Bangalore as against INOX's 4 screens in Garuda Mall), I felt my PVR experience was better (I saw The BOSS, 3rd & 4th time in PVR).  PVR reserved 2 shows in their first day to WHOs WHO of Kannada Filmdom (incl. then CM HDK's family).

I heard PVR is opening up a 7 screen multiplex in Chennai's Arumbakkam area (I think it is coming up in Ampa Mall at the corner of Nelson Manickam Road & Poonamalli High Road - erstwhile Arun Hotel land).  Itwas supposed to have opened up in July'07 itself but may ultimately be inagurated for Pongal '08. Boss' next movie will definitely get released there & will go on to create yet another record.

Regarding BOSS' Marathon Run in PVR, Bangalore - SuperStar's Sivaji The Boss is now running continuously for the 21st week in PVR.  After the 15th week, they have started screening The Boss for only 1 show a day & it continues till now (147 days by coming Thursday).  They keep shuttling The Boss between different screens i.e. this week in Cinema Europa (Tkt rate Rs. 250/-); last week it was screened in Gold Class (Tkt Rate Rs. 500/-).  Moreover, they keep shuffling the show time also.  This week, it is running in morning show (10:15 am).  Last week in Gold Class it was running in Night Show (10:10 PM).  Please note that even after 21 weeks, Sivaji alone is able to make business sense for PVR multiplex to run at the toughest show timings - night show & morning shows.  Youngsters & college students will form the bulk of the audience in these two shows.

Superstar's Sivaji is not only creating quantitative records (like number of days/weeks run, crores of money collected in distribution sales & box office sales) but also QUALITATIVE RECORDS (like the ones I have mentioned above).  If we go deep & analyse, we will be able to appreciate BOSS' qualitiative power.

I will keep you all posted if Boss stilll manages to stave off the threat of Diwali releases in PVR even after 150 days plus run, as I am waiting with bated breath for the coming Friday when OSO, Saawaria, ATM, Vel, etc are also expected to release in PVR.  Knowing BOSS' popularity, nothing is impossible.

With Luv,

Arun
